Abstract: Sodium metasilicate pentahydrate was widely used in washing products，which was an ideal substitute for phosphorus-based detergent assistant，sodium tripolyphosphate.Various production technologies and raw materials of pentahydrate sodium metasilicate by aqueous crystallization method and one-shot pelletizing method were expounded，and the advantages and disadvantages of two methods were compared.Combined with China′s situation：with rapid development of industry，as a large number of waste liquid and residue was emitted，environmental pollution control was of great urgency.It pointed out that China should fully develope aqueous crystallization method，which was suitable for different production scales and had low raw material quality requirement.And a series of solving measures were put forward for the problems that existed in the aqueous crystallization method.
