Abstract: According to the published patents and papers，present development situation for new technologies of sodium chromate in China，including industrialization，development and innovation of chromite calcium-free roasting，chromite hydrometallurgy，production of sodium chromate with carbon ferrochrome as raw material，and chromite acid-leaching oxidation process，was summarized.The merits，demerits，and prospects of each method were discussed.The industrialization，development and innovation of chromite calcium-free roasting，including：industrialization of calcium-free roasting，improvements and new ideas of calcium-free roasting process（including：the improvement of reactor and change of process flow，improvement of neutralization method，utilization of aluminum mud，devanadation，two-stage calcination，alkali mixing after preheating， chromic slag treatment，and fly ash reusing），less alkali roasting process，sodium chromate-carbon ferrochrome synthetic process，catalyst application，and oxygen roasting，were introduced.
