Research on surface modification of spinel LiMn2O4

Abstract: The surface of spinel LiMn2O4 was coated with TiO2 layer by sol-gel method.The particle size and morphology of the samples before and after coating were characterized by scanning electron microscopy(SEM).The results of electrochemical performance test showed that the TiO2 layer can obstruct the direct contact between LiMn2O4 and electrolyte and reduce the dissolution of Mn,improving the electrochemical stability of LiMn2O4.The sample coated with 2%(mass fraction) TiO2 showed he best electrochemical performance.The initial discharge specific capacity was 111.4 mA·h/g,and remained at 101.5 mA·h/g after 50 cycles at 1 C rate and 55 ℃.
