Abstract: Phosphogypsum is the main by-product in the phosphorous chemical industry with wet process, and the global output is about 2×108 t/a.Enormous emissions of phosphogypsum not only occupied the land, increased environmental protection and management pressure, but also caused calcium and sulfur resources contained in phosphogypsum could not be used effectively. There are many ways to dispose and re-use the phosphogypsum, but it′s found that the way of using it to produce sulfuric acid and cement is the most effective one to maximize the recycling economy and resource utilization after comprehensive comparison. The market capacity of phosphogypsum as the calcium and sulfur resources was discussed and the scarcity of producing sulfuric acid and cement in technology and economy as well as the influencing factors was also introduced. The scientific-and-technological innovation techniques and methods for phosphogypsum as resource were put forward, and part of them had been implemented and obvious economical and social benefits had also been made.
