Research on production of architectural coating with waste slag from sulphur production with pyrite

Abstract: After the Fe3O4 concentrate powder was recovered by magnetic separation method from the tail slag of sulphur production with pyrite,the remained waste slag was the mixture of iron,aluminum,silicon,calcium,and magnesium,which can be used to produce coating materials for buildings′ external-wall.Chemical composition,mineral composition,and particle size distribution of the waste slag were analyzed and the feasibility of it applied in the coating materials for buildings′external-wall was also studied.The preparation process and optimized experimental formula were given.The economical benefit of this method was evaluated and analyzed.Experiment results showed this method had good economical-and social-benefit because it fully utilized the waste slag generated from the sulfur production with low grade pyrite.
