Abstract: A new manufacture technology for high quality red iron oxide with ferrous sulfate by-produced from titanium dioxide production was studied. This technology used by-product ferrous sulfate of titanium dioxide production as raw material, and purified it by chemical method. The red iron oxide for ferromagnet was obtained through the processes,of dehydration and calcination from the purified ferrous sulphate.Through experiments, the optimal technological conditions of preparing high quality red iron oxide were obtained. The product was of the highest quality of 99.8% under the optimal conditions.Furthermore, the as-prepared red iron oxide had other good physical performances, such as the product′s crystal shape was α- Fe2O3, the average particle size was less than 1.5 μm,bulk density was less than 0.35 g/cm3,and the mass fraction of water was less than 0.5%.
