Abstract: A new method for direct electrosynthesis of solid potassium ferrate (K2FeO4) in KOH solution using potas-sium iodide (KI) as additive was put forward.Fe electrode and K2FeO4 sample were characterized by means of CV,EDX,IR,and SEM etc..Results showed that using the additive during synthesis could result in the highest current efficiency of 76.6%,product purity of 95.3%~97.8%,and a yield of 66 g/L  K2FeO4 at 65 ℃;and the current density could be enhanced from 2.5 mA/cm2 to 4.5 mA/cm2,which is 80% higher than that of the blank sample when keeping current efficiency over 63%.EDX and IR results indicated K2FeO4 sample obtained by using additive contained little iodine and appeared longer polyhedron in shape than that of the blank sample.  
