Abstract: Hydromagnesite is a kind of filler and dispersant with excellent performance, and now it is mainly produced from dolomite carbonization technology or magnesia-sulfuric acid-ammonium hydrogen carbonate method which both have complex process and serious pollution.A new process was proposed for preparation of hydromagnesite at elevated pressure with magnesium hydroxide slurry and CO2 gas as raw materials.Effects of reaction temperature, reaction time, and partial pressure of CO2 gas on the purity of product were studied.Morphology, crystal structure, and thermal decomposition of the product were characterized by SEM,XRD,and TG-DTA analysis respectively.Result showed that the product with good purity and uniform hexagonal lamellar morphology can be obtained at the reaction temperature of 120 ℃,CO2 gas partial pressure of 0.22 MPa,and reaction time of 3 h.  
