Abstract: To amplify applied prospect of coal-based kaolin and solve water body polluted by phosphorus,coal-based kaolin activated by Na2CO3 and the methods it adsorbing phosphorus in municipal wastewater were studied.Effect of partical size of activated coal-based kaolin on the adsorption of phosphorus as well as its adsorption thermodynamics and isotherm was investigated. Then its adsorption mechanism was further studied. Results showed when the partical size of activated coal-based kaolin was at 106~1 700 μm,the phosphorus adsorption rate continued to grow with the partical size declining;when the partical size decreased to 150 μm,the change of adsorption rate tended to be slow.Action that phosphorus in municipal wastewater adsorpted by activated coal-based kaolin accorded with Freundlich, and the higher temperature was good for the adsorption,so the action was an endothermic process.
