Abstract:

Potassium chloride is an important potash fertilizerand, which is mainly produced from salt lake brine by flotation methods.Collector plays a key role in the process of flotation. However, the flotation yield is markedly decreased at low temperatures when the octadecylamine is used as collector to produce potassium chloride. Therefore, the mixed collector(cationic/anionic) was developed in the production of potassium chloride with direct flotation at low temperature by reagent combination method. The optimum molar ratio of mixed collector was initially determined as dodecylamine:octadecylamine:sodium dodecyl sulfate=20%:60%:20% by contact angle and surface tension measurements. The flotation experiment showed that the flotation yield of mixed collector for KCl was significantly higher than the octadecylamine. The mixed collector had a higher capacity for potassium chloride when the liquid phase temperature was 5 ℃.
