Progress on electrodeionization technology and its application

Abstract:

As a new generation of water treatment technology that combines electrodialysis and ion exchange technology effectively,electrodeionization technology(EDI) has become the main modern pure water preparation technology due to its green environmental protection and economic advantages,and has been widely used in industrial and commercial fields.Based on study and analysis of the basic principle and working mechanism of electrodeionization technology,the filling materials and filling methods of the existing light chamber were summarized and analyzed,and it was concluded that mixed filling was the best way.In addition,the development of ion exchange fiber membrane materials could be strengthened in the future to reduce the processing time of EDI process.Finally,the development history of electrodeionization technology and its application in recent ten years were summarized.In the future,EDI technology could be widely used in inorganic ion extraction and other fields.The research on the mechanism of the new membrane-free electrodeionization technology(MFEDI) was beneficial to the large-scale industrial application of this technology in the later stage.
