Abstract

Polyvinyl formal(PVFM) sponge supported Co-B/PVFM catalyst was prepared by impregnation-reduction method, and the effects of sodium borohydride concentration, sodium hydroxide concentration and reaction temperature on the catalytic hydrolysis of sodium borohydride were investigated. The results showed that the hydrogen production rate was increased with the increase of sodium borohydride concentration and reaction temperature, and with the increase of sodium hydroxide concentration, the hydrogen production rate was firstly increased and then decreased. The activation energy of the hydrolysis reaction was 29.02 kJ/mol.In the continuous reactor,Co-B/PVFM catalyst could catalyze hydrolysis of sodium borohydride to produce hydrogen at a rate of 12.0 L/min,which could supply hydrogen for 1 kW fuel cell, and the catalytic activity did not decay for 100 min, showing great practical application potential.
