Abstract

Uniform cadmium sulfide(CdS) microspheres have high refractive index, and the photonic crystals composed of them have bright color and low angle dependence, which have been widely used in the field of structural color in recent years. However, the current mature methods for the preparation of uniform CdS microspheres have some problems, such as the large use of organic solvents and high energy consumption at high temperature. Therefore,a green preparation method for preparing uniform CdS microspheres in aqueous solution was designed. The controlled injection assisted feeding solved the problem of unbalanced growth of microspheres caused by too fast hydrolysis of metal salt precursors in water. At the same time, the controlled injection method could be more conducive to controlling the concentration of Cd2+ in the system and successfully synthesized uniform CdS microspheres with 180~410 nm.Further,three-dimensional photonic crystal structures based on CdS microspheres with different particle sizes were constructed by horizontal induced assembly. This photonic crystal film showed bright and low angle dependent structural color, which was more conducive to the application of structural color in color display and other fields.
