Preparation of tetrabasic lead sulfate from desulfurized lead paste

Lead-acid batteries have been widely used in people′s lives,and their huge annual scrapping makes the environ-ment more threatening.Studies have shown that there are more mature technologies for desulfurization and recovery of waste lead paste.The lead tetrabasic sulfate was prepared by controlling the addition of sulfuric acid,the addition of dodecylben-zenesulfonic acid and calcination temperature with desulfurization lead paste as raw material.The optimal tetrabasic lead sul-fate formation process was obtained by analyzing the products obtained under various conditions.The results showed that:according n(Pb)∶n(H2SO4)=5∶1,n(Pb)∶n(DBSA)=18∶1 to add H2SO4 and dodecylbenzenesulfonic acid(DBSA),and the calcination temperature was 600 ℃,the highest purity of obtained tetrabasic lead sulfate under these conditions was 92.7%,which was presented as orthorhombic crystals,and it satisfied the requirements of lead-acid batteries as additives.Therefore,this study can provide a recycling and utilization of waste lead paste to achieve recycling of lead resources.
