Abstract: Stannic chloride is produced in the reaction of refined tin and chlorine. In order to reduce industrial production costs of stannic chloride, reaction of sulphide slag (a kind of waste slag which produced from crude tin refining) and chlorine was made to produce stannic chloride. Influences of factors, such as reaction temperature, reaction time,liquid/solid ratio, and stirring speed,on tin leaching rate in sulphide slag were studied.Experimental results indicated that chlorine could react with tin in sulphide slag and could produce stannic chloride, and the leaching rate of tin reached over 90%.Optimum process conditions for leaching were as follows:initial liquid/solid mass ratio of stannic chloride to sulphide slag was 2∶1,reaction temperature was at 80~90 ℃,reaction time was 6 h,and stirring speed was 100 r/min.Impurities in leaching solution, such as AsCl3 and SbCl3,were removed by distillation;the quality of experimental stannic chloride product met the quality standards of industrial stannic chloride product which produced from refined tin.
