Recovery of residue iodine in iodine production effluent of[JZ]kelp chemical industry by active carbon adsorption method

Abstract: <SPAN lang=EN-US style="FONT-SIZE: 10.5pt; FONT-FAMILY: "Times New Roman"; mso-bidi-font-size: 12.0pt; mso-font-kerning: 1.0pt; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-fareast-language: ZH-CN; mso-bidi-language: AR-SA; mso-fareast-font-family: 宋体">A new technology, which applied active carbon adsorption method to recover the low-content residue iodine from the iodine production effluent in the kelp chemical industry,was researched.Mass concentration of residue iodine in the traditional iodine production effluent after treated by ion-exchange resin was at 20~30 mg/L,which can be absorbed and collected by the carbon columns after oxidation under the condition of pH at 1.5~2.0.Carbon columns that contain iodine were eluted with NaOH solvent.After neutralized with HCl the mass concentration of iodine in the eluate could be at 300~400 mg/L.The new technology is a practical way for the recycling of the iodine production effluent.</SPAN>
