Abstract: In the bittern comprehensive utilization project of Nafine Group,series products,such as BaSO<SUB>4</SUB>,Mg(OH)<SUB>2</SUB>,and BaCl<SUB>2</SUB>•H<SUB>2</SUB>O have been produced by the special process with high-Mg bittern in Yuncheng salt lake as raw material.Over the past few years,the project created significant economic benefits for the Group,but there was still a big divergence in product quality comparing with similar products in the industry.The overall analysis of bittern and product composition showed that the high content of organics in the bittern was the main factor that influenced the quality of the product.The hot NaOH solution was adopted to wash BaSO<SUB>4</SUB> product and the organics can be removed effectively from BaSO<SUB>4</SUB> product.The quality of BaSO<SUB>4</SUB> met the grade A of national standard in China with mass fraction of 97.6%,whiteness of 92%,and ignition mass loss rate of 1.6%.Finally,it was proposed that it is only to remove the organics thoroughly from bittern is the fundamental way to improve the quality of series products.<BR>
