Preparation of nano-sized CeO2 by sol-gel method

Abstract: Nano-sized CeO<SUB>2</SUB> powder was prepared by sol-gel method using citric acid as ligand.The influence of preparation conditions,such as amount-of-substance ratio of metallic ion to ligand,reaction temperature,drying temperature of gel and calcination temperature,and time of xerogel on the particle size of products,was studied in detail.The optimal preparation conditions are as follows:amount-of-substance ratio of metallic ion to ligand was 1∶3,reaction temperature was 65 ℃,drying temperature of gel was 120 ℃,calcination temperature and time were 500 ℃ and 2 h,respectively.Under these conditions,monodispersed nano-sized CeO<SUB>2</SUB> particles with average particle size of 7 nm and surface area of 115 m<SUP>2</SUP>/g were obtained.
