Abstract: TiO2-active carbon composite material with high photocatalytic activity has been prepared by using nano-sized TiO2 powder and epoxide resin as raw materials. The sample was characterized by thermal gravimetry and differential scanning calorimetry analysis (TG-DSC) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) etc..It demonstrated that the TiO2 in composite existed as anatase. The particle diameter of TiO2-active carbon composite was 100 nm under scanning electronic microscope (SEM).The experiment of photocatalytic oxidation of methyl orange showed that the composite has a high photocatalytic activity. The research results indicated that, photocatalytic decoloration and mineralization process were taken place simultaneously under experimental conditions. And the composite′s photocatalytic activity was much higher than that of single TiO2 powde for the adsorption of active carbon. The composite not only have a good performance in the ultraviolet region, but also have a very good performance in the visible light region, because of its absorption to visible light (black). So,the low solar energy utilization ratio of TiO2 as photocatalytic catalyst can be significantly improved in the practical application.<BR>
