Abstract: Classification and annual production status of alumina chemicals in China were summarized.It was pointed out that annual output of alumina chemicals only accounted for 4.9% of that of metallurgical grade alumina in China,while in the world the number was 8.0%;China only has over 200 kinds of product categories of alumina chemicals whereas there are more than 400 kinds in the world.Therefore,China should vigorously and rapidly develop diversity of alumina chemicals and produce its more species.Development trend of alumina chemicals in China was discussed,that is,in 2008—2009,the  1 000 kt/a chemical grade alumina project in China has started construction;20 kt/a,50 kt/a,and 150 kt/a alumina chemicals projects are attracting investment,all of these indicated that Chinese product categories,production technology,and  performance  of alumina chemicals will have more development.
