Synthesis of octadecyl naphthenate with supported tungstophosphoric heteropoly acid as catalyst

Abstract: Esterification reaction to synthesize octadecyl naphthenate with supported tungstophosphoric heteropoly acid,which prepared with naphthenic acid and octadecyl alcohol as raw materials by impregnation method,as catalyst was studied.Catalyst activity and life of two kinds of carrier supported tungstophosphoric heteropoly acid were studied,and results showed that activated carbon supported tungstophosphoric heteropoly acid was more favourable to esterification reaction of octadecyl naphthenate.Catalytic effect was good and rate of esterification was more than 91%,while the dosage of activated carbon supported tungstophosphoric heteropoly acid was 1.5%~2.5% of the total mass of naphthenic acid and octadecyl alcohol.
