Abstract: In the production of titanium dioxide by sulfuric acid process,the production of 1t titanium dioxide will generate 8~10 t waste sulfuric acid with mass fraction of about 20%.Treatment and comprehensive utilization of waste acid is a very important work for solving environment pollution of titanium dioxide production.Some methods for the treatment and comprehensive utilization of titanium dioxide waste acid at home and abroad in recent years were summarized.Methods of concentration,diffusion dialysis,and extraction etc.commonly used in recovery of sulfuric acid were introduced.Various technologies of producing ferrous ammonium sulfate,gypsum,synthetic rutile,calcium superphosphate,polyferric sulfate,and iron-based painted with titanium dioxide waste acid as raw material were sumed up.Methods of separating and extracting scandium,titanium,vanadium,iron,and other valuable metals from waste acid were emphasized.Lastly,development direction of comprehensive utilization of titanium dioxide waste acid utilizing various resources in waste acid simultaneously while treating and controlling it to change waste into valuable was pointed out.
