Abstract: The ludwigite in Fengcheng of Liaoning Province belongs to low-iron and low-boron low-grade mixed ore.Its mass fraction of boric oxide is just 7.90% and ferric oxide is only 30.65%.Therefore,iron ore concentrate was usually separated at first,and then boron-containing tailings was processed into boron ore concentrate powder when using ludwigite as raw material to produce borate products.However,if using boron mineral to produce borax by alkali method,it must be roasted so as to increase the activity of boric oxide.So far,there is not any industrial plant for boron ore concentrate powder roasting.Most of the enterprises just throw it away,which cause big waste and environmental pollution.In this paper,the present production status of boron ore concentrate powder was introduced;boiling-bed roasting,rotary kiln roasting,flash roasting and mechanical shaft kiln roasting were briefly described;and boron ore concentrate powder press forming roasting technology was introduced in detail.Shaft kiln roasting not only increases the activity of boron,but also has the advantages of low running cost,small investment and quick returns etc..So it is worth popularizing.
