Abstract: China is a big country of using potash fertilizer, but for a long time it primarily depends on import.China has abundant saline resources, and different types of the salt lake have different modes of development and utilization. The sulfate-type salt lake is the resource reservoir for developing potassium sulfate product and so on.Aiming at this, the distribution of sulfate-type saline resources and current status of development technology of chloride-free potash fertilizer in China were reviewed. It is believed that the west of China, especially Qinghai and Xinjiang have sufficient sulfate-type potassium resources. However, the development and utilization of saline resources in these regions are just at their very outset. But these regions still promise well as the second potash fertilizer producing areas after Chaerhan potash fertilizer base, which will relieves the shortage of potash fertilizer of China to a certain extent. At last, several suggestions on development of potassium sulfate-dominant chloride-free potash fertilizers by using sulfate-type saline resources were put forward.
