Abstract: In order to effectively utilize various valuable elements in the insoluble potassium contained shale［the main co- mponents are K（AlSi3O8） and  iron compounds etc.］，the ammonium fluoride was used to make the insoluble potassium co- ntained shale into acid soluble matters for further production of potassium sulfate and other products.The process comprises the following steps：1）Pretreatment of the insoluble potassium contained shale；2）Deal with insoluble potassium contained shale by ammonium  fluoride；3）Filtration of the products after processing of ammonium fluoride；4）Acidolysis after ammonium fluoride solution；5）Water soluble after sulfuric acid treatment；6）Adjust the pH to get potassium sulfate solution by grading precipitation；7）Regeneration and reuse of ammonium fluoride solution.The new technology was characterized by a low temperature，easy control，and high reaction yield.Furthermore，ammonium fluoride could be recycled，valuable elements in the insoluble potassium-contained shale were comprehensively utilized，and the production costs of various products were effectively reduced，thereby the technology had a good economic benefit.
