Influence of strontium carbonate raw materials on synthesis of SrAl↓2O↓4:Eu,Dy luminescent material

Abstract:  The topography of the raw material SrCO↓3 and its behavior in the course of synthesizing SrAl↓2O↓4:Eu,Dy luminescent material have been studied by means of TG-DSC,SEM and X-ray diffraction.The results showed that the particle size and topography of raw material SrCO↓3 are the key factors influencing the luminescence performance of SrAl↓2O↓4:Eu,Dy.Concerning to different SrCO↓3 raw materials,different microstructures will cause different thermal decomposition processes when they were heated to 900 ℃ and the surface area and reactivity will be also different when they react with alumina.So the diffusion of the strontium ions and other rare earth doped ions will be affected during the synthesis process,which will result in the different structures and performances of luminescent materials.Among the investigated SrCO↓3 raw materials,the one with average particle size of 0.8 μm can obtain the best luminescence performance for synthesizing SrAl↓2O↓4:Eu,Dy luminescent material.
