Abstract: To improve the lead-absorption capacity of natural zeolite,a study on activation method,including soaked in inorganic acid,alkali and salt,have been carried out.Results showed that by activation treatment,natural zeolite can strongly absorb Pb↑2+ in waste water.Especially,the zeolite activated with 2 mol/L sodium chloride had the best effect of removing lead from water and its absorbent capacity was increased by 89.96% than that of natural zeolite.The static experiment results showed that the optimum static absorption time was 120 min; raw water pH should be controlled at 5.0 to 6.0,and the absorption process conformed to Freundlich isothermal line q<SUB>e</SUB>=25.08 ρ<SUB>e</SUB><SUP>0.319 3</SUP>.The dynamic results showed that the adsorption rate of activated zeolite to Pb↑2+ was greater than that of activated carbon and when the concentration of Pb↑2+ in waste water was 213.64 mg/L,maintaining velocity of flow from 2.36~2.82 mL/s,and the breakthrough capacity was 55.62 mg/g,the treatment capacity of the former was 1.44 times larger than that of the latter.
