Abstract: A new technology for the preparation of feed grade zinc oxide from chlorine-containing flue dust was studied. The process uses chlorine-containing flue dust as raw material, which was synthesized into intermediate product——basic zinc carbonate after acid-leaching and purifying. Then feed grade zinc oxide was prepared from basic zinc carbonate through filtrating, washing, drying and calcination. The effects of acid-leaching and impurity-removing conditions as well as the calcining temperature and time on product quality were primarily investigated. Results showed that: the zinc leaching rate can reach 95% while adopting 30% (mass fraction) sulfuric acid;the impurities can be completely removed by 27.5% hydrogen peroxide solution oxidizing Fe and two-stage zinc powder displacement method;feed grade zinc oxide with mass fraction of 98% can be prepared by controlling calcining temperature at 800 ℃ for 4 h.This method uses cheap flue dust as raw material. Therefore,it has the advantages of extensive raw material resource and low cost. In addition, the prepared products can meet the standard of HG/T 2792—1996 (first grade).
