Research on impurity components and filtration performance of titanyl sulfate solution

Abstract: The relationship of the impurity components,such as SiO2,CaO,MgO,and Al2O3 and their contents with the filtration performance of titanyl sulfate solution was compared and studied.The contents of impurity in the titanyl sulfate solution were changed by appending impurities artificially.The results showed that the colloid SiO2 and TiO2 were the main influencing factors on the filtration performance of titanyl sulfate solution,while CaO,MgO,and Al2O3 with little effect to it.The filtration time was about 5 min commonly when the mass concentration of SiO2 was about 0.07 g/L,and the higher the mass concentration,the longer the filtration time.The increasing speed of filtration time lowered when the mass concentration of TiO2 colloid exceeding 3 g/L.The adding of flocculant could reduce the content of colloid SiO2 effectively and slightly to CaO at a certain extent with its sorption.
