Abstract: Application，production technology，current production status，and development trend of sodium trimetaphoshate were summarized.It was pointed that as sodium trimetaphosphate has an excellent performance and special use，it got more and more concerns and its demand expanded at home and abroad.China has got breakthrough in its production mode，which was changed into a continuous mode from an intermittent one.The product output and quality were both greatly improved accordingly，which not only satisfied the demand of Chinese market and is promising to occupy the international market.For promoting the further development of sodium trimetaphoshate，more R&D was still needed in such aspects as application，production technology，and detection technique etc..
