Abstract: Novel wheat-like cobalt-nickel alloy microcrystals were prepared by hydrothermal reduction method, with Co(Ⅱ) and Ni(Ⅱ) salts as precursor, sodium tartrate as complexing agent, and with sodium hypophosphite as reducing agent. The wheat-like microcrystals were composed of nanoplates with an average thickness of about 100 nm,which arranged at both sides of the‘main stem’ in a certain direction. The samples were characterized by SEM,EDS,and XRD.The influences of sort and dosage of complexing agent as well as the dosage of sodium hydroxide on the morphology of samples were investigated. Results showed that sodium hydroxide was the key to synthesize wheat-like microcrystals and its dosage had a direct effect on the morphology of the samples. The complexing agent, sodium tartrate, also played a crucial role in the formation of wheat-like structure of the samples.
