Study on preparation of cryolite from solid sodium fluoride

Abstract: <SPAN lang=EN-US style="FONT-SIZE: 10.5pt; FONT-FAMILY: "Times New Roman"; mso-bidi-font-size: 12.0pt; mso-font-kerning: 1.0pt; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-fareast-language: ZH-CN; mso-bidi-language: AR-SA; mso-fareast-font-family: 宋体">As a fluxing agent of aluminum electrolysis,cryolite can reduce the melting point of alumina and increase the conductivity of electrolyte.However,it has a certain requirement for molecular ratio of sodium to aluminum(Na/Al),impurities contents,moisture content,and other indexes.Solid sodium fluoride was taken as raw materials in preparation of cryolite.Process conditions for preparation of solid sodium fluoride,aluminum fluoride,and cryolite were investigated,while influencing factors on the quality of cryolite product were analyzed.Experiment results showed compared with the cryolite (liquid sodium fluoride was taken as raw material),the cryolite (solid sodium fluoride was taken as raw material) was of higher molecular ratio,lower water,and better liquidity.</SPAN>
