Abstract: <SPAN lang=EN-US style="FONT-SIZE: 10.5pt; FONT-FAMILY: "Times New Roman"; mso-bidi-font-size: 12.0pt; mso-font-kerning: 1.0pt; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-fareast-language: ZH-CN; mso-bidi-language: AR-SA; mso-fareast-font-family: 宋体">As a novel functional inorganic material,magnesium salt whisker (M-HOS) has a wide application prospect in many fields because of its special and excellent properties.Preparation principle and process routes of M-HOS were introduced.Process routes,conditions and characteristics of hydrothermal method and magnesium salt melting method were mainly expounded.Application of M-HOS in fields of plastic,nylon-6,paper making and paint etc.was introduced,and its special properties in these fields were analyzed briefly.Then,development of M-HOS in future was prospected.</SPAN>
