Abstract:

Lithium was extracted by solvent extraction method from the concentrated high Mg/Li ratio brine from a salt lake in Qinghai Province,China. The influences of concentration of the extracting agent, the phase ratio of organic/aqueous(O/A),the acidity[H +] of brine and other related factors on lithium extraction efficiency were investigated systematically. The lithium-rich organic phase was back extracted and the influences of back extraction phase ratio and the concentration of HCl(back extractant) on the back extraction of lithium-loaded organic phase were also investigated. The extraction technology has a good application prospect for the separation of lithium from the high Mg/Li brine.

Key words: high Mg/Li brine, solvent extraction, lithium separation efficiency
