Abstract:

Zinc stannate(ZS) was prepared by mechanical force chemical wet ball milling using tin dioxide(SnO2) and zinc oxide(ZnO) as raw materials, and then zinc stannate modified hydrotalcite(ZS/HT) was obtained by mixed with hydrotalcite in a certain ratio. The synthesized ZS and ZS/HT were characterized by scanning electron microscopy,X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy. The obtained ZS/HT was applied to PVC to obtain flame-retardant PVC.When 10%(mass ratio of ZS to hydrotalcite) ZS/HT was added, the limiting oxygen index of the material was 3.5% higher than that of the pure PVC sample, and the mechanical properties of the material were improved.Thermogravimetric analysis results showed that the addition of ZS/HT promoted the early decomposition of PVC to form char layer, which effectively increased the amount of char residue in PVC materials.
