Study on preparation technology of aluminum tripolyphosphate from bentonite

Abstract: Aluminum tripolyphosphate was prepared through processes of acid leaching,purification,neutralization,and polymerization with bentonite in an Anhui district,China,as raw material.Effects of the mix ratio of raw materials (amount-of-substance ratio of phosphoric acid to aluminum hydroxide),reaction time,and temperature in the processes of neutralization and polymerization on the purity of products were studied.The product quality was analyzed. Structure and morphology of the product were characterized by XRD,FT-IR,and SEM.Results showed that under the optimum conditions,the main component content of product met the requirement of Q/HGY07—1999 and it was of a planar laminar structure.
