Abstract: Leaching scandium from red mud by hydrochloric acid was studied and the leaching effect of scandium under different conditions was compared. The results showed that, the leaching rate of scandium increased with the increasing of concentration of HCl,liquid to solid ratio, reaction temperature, and time.Ultrasonic oscillation was superior to common thermostatic bath oscillation. When the concentration of HCl was 6 mol/L,liquid to solid ratio(mL/g)was 5∶1,reaction time was 1.5 h,and reaction temperature was 70 ℃,the leaching rate of scandium was 85.2% under condition of common thermostatic bath oscillation. While the leaching rate of scandium was up to 93% by means of ultrasonic oscillation, and the reaction time was only 10 min and reaction temperature was 60 ℃.
