Abstract: Titanium tetrachloride is a main raw material in the titanium industry and is an important intermediate product in the process of production of titanium and its compounds.It is used for the spongy titanium，pearlescent pigments，titanate series，titanium dioxide，and catalyst of olefin compound etc..Now it has been manufactured in large scale in China.The problems existing in the equipment and production technology of boiling chlorination were discussed.Technically the differences in technology between China and the developed countries，such as the United States and Japan，were compared. Influences of the characteristics of raw materials and the impurity contents on the production and equipment were investigated.Finally，the aspects need to be improved and the development direction in future were introduced.
