Abstract: Zinc oxide(ZnO) is an indispensable and important basic chemical raw material and a new-type material in the development of national economy.Limitations of the ZnO current standards have been already revealed since the emergence of poor quality ZnO in recent years.By theoretical basis and experimental verification, the limitations of the current standard methods for the determination of zinc content in ZnO were demonstrated.China′s existing methods for determination of the zinc content in ZnO standards only limited to the pure or nearly pure product of ZnO.If the measured ZnO contained a large amount of impurity metal elements, the detection of zinc content was higher than the actual zinc content due to large number of metal impurity elements beyond the masking limit of masking agent. Therefore, current ZnO standards in China could not evaluate poor quality ZnO correctly. At present, research on the key testing technology for the inferior ZnO is urgent,so as to formulate a feasible and effective technology for the identification and content determination of poor quality ZnO.
