Abstract: Surface modification is one of the major techniques for processing inorganic powders,which has utmost important role in improving their application performance and value.Present status of surface modification technology for inorganic powders was introduced in terms of ways,process,equipment,surface modifier,and formula thereof etc.;from process and equipment,surface modifier and formula thereof,intercalation of layered silicate mineral powder,and inorganic compounding surface modification etc.the latest progress in non-metallic mineral surface modification technology was summarized;and the development prospect and trend were also forecasted. 
