Synthesis of nano-sized copper powder by non-aqueous solvent method

Abstract: Method of producing nano-sized copper powder by liquid phase reduction method with copper acetate (or copper oxide and copper hydroxide) as raw material,liquid glycerol as reducing agent and polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) as dispersant was researched.Optimum process conditions were determined by experiments:add proper copper salt into 50 mL liquid glycerol system and keep the amount-of-substance ratio of copper salt to glycerol at 1∶40,and add dispersant 0.4~0.6 g PVP simultaneously,then control the temperature at 475~505 K,with rapid agitation for 50~60 min.Prepared product was characterized by chemical analysis,XRD,and TEM.Results indicated that the product was high purity copper powder,and the particles were spherical while their size was able to meet the nano-sized material′s requirement.
