Abstract: <FONT face=Verdana>A simple method for preparation of ultrafine red phosphorus powder coated with nano-sized Al(OH)3 was introduced.The key steps were:water flotation process after high energy ball-milling was the key point of the method;spheroidal ultrafine red phosphorus powder with particle size of 100~200 nm was obtained through the flotation process;then,ultrafinered phosphorus particles gained from flotation were coated by nano-sized Al(OH)3.SEM,UV-vis,and DSC-TG analysis were applied to characterize the products.Results indicated that the scarlet color of red phosphorus was well masked after coated with nano-sized Al(OH)3,which might be used as a potential flame retardant with superior performances.</FONT>
