Progress in synthesis process of calcium carbide

Abstract: <SPAN lang=EN-US style="FONT-SIZE: 10.5pt; FONT-FAMILY: "Times New Roman"; mso-bidi-font-size: 12.0pt; mso-font-kerning: 1.0pt; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-fareast-language: ZH-CN; mso-bidi-language: AR-SA; mso-fareast-font-family: 宋体">Calcium carbide,widely applied in synthesis of organic chemical products,such as benzene,rubber,polyvinyl chloride,and polyacetylene,is a main intermediate product of clean coal utilization.Current status of industrial calcium carbide production was introduced,technical route of industrially producing calcium carbide by electrothermal process was analyzed and the causes for high energy consumption and pollution of this process as well as the problems in research at present were pointed out.Current research status of calcium carbide at home and abroad was summarized.Research progress in various calcium carbide synthesis processes and advances in heating mode of the synthesis were highlighted. Especially,methods of catalytic synthesis of different carbides were introduced in detail.On that basis,possibility and advantages of catalytic synthesis process as a new method to produce calcium carbide were pointed out and analyzed.The prcoess will be the development direction of calcium carbide industry. </SPAN>
