Determination of sulfate radical in lithium carbonate manufactured from salt lake

Abstract: <FONT face=Verdana>So far there is no reporting about an ideal determination method of sulfate radical in lithium carbonate manufactured from salt lake.Nonferrous metal industry standard ‘Battery Level Lithium Carbonate YS/T 582—2006’ recommended a determination method of barium sulfate nephelometery used on spectrophotometer,but the method had lower accuracy on determination of sulfate radical in lithium carbonate made from salt lake.On the basis of experience of lots of work on determinating sulfate radical in lithium carbonate made from salt lake,and by comparing various determination methods,a method called ‘standard addition nephelometery’ which applied the method of standard additon in the nephelometery to determinate sulfate radical content in lithium carbonate made from salt lake.This method had the relative standard deviation of 0.051 and recovery rate of 98.8%~100.5%,which showed its good accuracy and precision.This method is simple and rapid with high accuracy,and is suitable for determination of impurity sulfate radical in lithium carbonate containing sulfate radical from 0.005% to 0.08%. </FONT>
