Abstract: As an important inorganic ferroelectric material,barium zirconate titanate (BZT) can be used to make dynamic random access memory (DRAM),pyroelectric infrared detectors,dielectric phase shifters,voltage controlled filters,second harmonic generators,and other components due to its excellent features,such as high dielectric constant,strong dielectric nonlinearity,indefatigability,and adjustable Curie-point.Therefore,it has very improtant significance to prepare BZT with small particle size and good chemical uniformity.Presently,there are many BZT powder preparation methods.Some common preparation methods,such as solid state reaction,sol-gel,hydrothermal,and co-precipitation methods of BZT powder at home and abroad as well as their current research status were mainly introduced.Problems need to be solved in the research were also put forward. 
