Abstract: Crude sodium sulfate solution was flocculated and sedimentated with sodium polyacrylate as flocculant for improving its clarity. Results of experiment showed that the optimum conditions were:addition of sodium polyacrylate was 1×10-7g/mL,temperature of crude sodium sulfate solution was 65~75 ℃,stirring speed was 30~40 r/min,and stirring time was 3~5 min.Under the above mentioned conditions, continuous flocculation experiments was carried out in a 2 000 m3/d crude sodium sulfate solution clarification process. Results of comparison with polyacrylamide as flocculant proved that the total solid and suspended substance in crude sodium sulfate solution can be removed effectively and the clarity can be greatly improved when using sodium polyacrylate as flocculant. The merits of using it also reflected in its low flocculant consumption, fast clarification speed, and low treatment cost. Therefore, using this method in the clarification of sodium sulfate solution, the remarkable economy benefits will be obtained.
