Abstract: Generally,examination of main content of barium nitrate is to determine its Ba<SUP>2+</SUP>.Gravimetric methods (including barium sulfate weight method and baryta yellow weight method) in chemical analysis methods are used in daily control.Accuracy of barium sulfate weight method is much lowered due to the similar precipitation formation capacities between impurity (Sr<SUP>2+</SUP>) and main ions (Ba<SUP>2+</SUP>).Whereas baryta yellow weight method can determine the content of Ba<SUP>2+</SUP>accurately,but it also has many shortages,such as long process,complex operation,and low speed.Current baryta yellow volumetric method in Chinese National Standard GB/T 1613—2008 overcomes the above shortages and it is also very simple,fast,and accurate.It adapts to the production needs.Superiority of this mehtod was proved from the aspects of theory and experiment. 
