Abstract: Chromium residue is noxious because it contains a great deal of hexavalent chromium \[Cr(Ⅵ )\].So it needs to be detoxified. While detoxifying chromium residue with coal,a lot of holes were left after coal became carbon dio-xide,and also left a great deal of activated carbon due to imperfect combustion of coal. These materials not only have stronger adsorption, but also have some reduction function. If Cr(Ⅵ ) detoxicated chromium residue reduced by coal is leached and analyzed by a normal method,it might be adsorbed or be reduced.Analysis result of Cr(Ⅵ) will be lower or it may not be tested out.A new method is developed to analyze Cr(VI)  with isoamyl alcohol as extraction agent to extract Cr(VI) at first and then conduct the test. This method can decline interference during determination process, and therefore the result is more accurate and reliable, which provide a more scientific and rational method to evaluate detoxification effect.
