Abstract: A simplified method for mixing amount of chromium residue used in replacing dolomite in sintering ironmaking process was investigated and discussed. The realization of Qingdao Steel Corp.in utilizing 2×105 t of chromium residue as dolomite for sintering ironmaking was summarized.Based on this engineering practice, restrictive factors of sintering ironmaking process were ascertained through the analysis of material balance at first.According to the process restrictive factors calculation process was simplified on the basis of material balance.Take Qingdao Steel Corp.as an example, its restrictive factor is alumina content in furnace slag of ironmaking process.According to simplifying method, mixing amount of chromium residue calculated on the basis of increasing amount of alumina content was not more than 50 kg per ton Fe.The method has been successfully applied in Qingdao Steel Corp.to direct engineering practice of sintering ironmaking with chromium residue as dolomite. 
