Modification and characterization of superfine amorphous silica with macromolecule waxen emulsion

Abstract: Self-made macromolecule waxen emulsion was applied to modify superfine amorphous silica.Effect of adding dosage of waxen emulsion on apparent density and oil absorption value of amorphous silica was investigated.SEM and TG-DSC analysis were used to characterize the performances of amorphous silica before and after modification.Results showed that with the increasing of waxen emulsion amount,oil absorption value of silica significantly reduced,when adding amount reached a certain value it won′t reduce anymore;whereas apparent density had an increasing trend with the increase of modifier amount.When the loading of waxen emulsion was 5% and 7.5% (mass fraction)respectively,Characterized particles of amorphous silica were homogeneous and well-dispersed.Research results indicated that self-made macromolecule waxen emulsion had good modification effect on amorphous silica. 
